A 10” x 12” acrylic painting, drawing inspiration from the myths of the legendary Phoenix and tales of the Vermillion bird from Chinese Mythology. The vermillion bird, which is said to be a derivative of the phoenix, is considered as the Guardian of the South in Chinese myths. This artwork is a combination of different techniques and textures – Palette knife strokes to give a rough edge to the background in contrast to the soft metallic paint lining the feathers of the bird.
