This painting has been titled Krishna Leela- Govardhan parvat ( krishna’s story- Govardhan Hill). It is based on the mythological story in which when Lord Indira sent terrible rain clouds to Vrindavan, tormenting them extensive rain and thunderstorms, which would cause extensive floods and destroy the livelihood of all the inhabitants. Lord krishna then lifted the entire Govardhan hill, sheltering the inhabitants, on his left little finger, which the scene that has been depicted here.
