We travelled to Burma a few years back. I found the watts enchanting. Monks in their habits from the age of three to 80+... meditating, walking around, going about their daily duties. I so wanted to paint them. But I was not there yet. We lived in Kuala Lumpur then. Then we moved to Singapore and got the opportunity to take up Chinese brush painting once again. I started from scratch. A friend of mine was doing a trail of monks walking into the sunset. She was not feeling confident about doing it on her own. I asked her to come home and paint. I was going to be her moral support. As she started with her work, I started to go though pictures of monks. And thought I would just try painting with ink. To my joy the brush flowed. What my painting teacher had taught me in China flowed through the tips of my brush. These are two of my favourite works.
